Urban is excited to be at the 101st Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.! We are looking forward to many of the discussions on smart design and how the infrastructure bill will impact our future. Featured speakers include Anne Strauss-Wieder of the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority and U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. Urban’s attending staff, which include Multimodal Transportation Engineer Andrew Thompson and Planner Daniel Hutton, are excited to help advance research and learn more about the best practices of transportation planning, roundabouts, and design control strategies.

The staff of our firm have long been involved with TRB, and are looking forward to learning and connecting with others at the conference. Mike Mastaglio has been appointed to the ADK80 – formerly ANB75 – Roundabouts and Other Design and Control Strategies Standing Committee board since 2015 and served for two consecutive terms. The committee is sponsoring several sessions at the annual meeting this year. Mr. Mastaglio – who has been a presenter at the TRB conference for the past four years – is also a Friend of the AKD10 Standing Committee on Performance Effects of Geometric Design. He is looking forward to attending electric vehicle-focused discussions, including the AMS30 - Standing Committee on Transportation Energy, Event 1085- Progressing the US lectern, and the AKR30 – Standing Committee on Maintenance Fleet and Equipment, Event 1255 – Fleet Planning for Electric and Zero Emission Vehicles. Mr. Mastaglio serves as an associate vice president for transportation, planning, design & multimodal ventures at Urban.

Bill Petit is on the AJE15 Workforce Development and Organizational Excellence Standing Committee, which is concerned with short-range processes and operational approaches that produce an improved performance of transportation organizations. Mr. Petit is a vice president and office manager of Urban’s Erie, Pennsylvania, office.
