Urban is pleased to announce that firm President and CEO Kenneth R. Fulmer, PE, has been appointed to the Drexel University Board of Trustees.

“Ken leads one of Philadelphia’s great companies,” Drexel President John Fry said. “For nearly six decades, Urban Engineers has helped shape the Philadelphia skyline, transit systems and many major projects around the country. With an undergraduate and master’s degree from Drexel’s College of Engineering, Ken knows the university well. We look forward to his leadership on our board of trustees.”

A lifelong resident of the Philadelphia region, Mr. Fulmer has a master's degree in engineering management and a bachelor's degree in civil and architectural engineering from Drexel. He joined Urban Engineers full-time in 1992 after previously serving as a co-op. He rose through the ranks of the firm and has served in several leadership capacities, and he currently manages all aspects of the firm’s operations, maintaining a culture of volunteerism and service sponsorships in Greater Philadelphia.

“The education I received at Drexel and the dynamic campus culture gave me the tools to succeed in the consulting engineering field,” said Mr. Fulmer. “It is a personal honor for me to become a trustee of the university and have a hand in the institution’s successful vision moving forward.”

In his current role leading the firm, Mr. Fulmer manages all aspects of the firm’s operations, including serving as the chairman of the board; directing the firm’s executive committee; aligning resources to support client needs and growth initiatives; overseeing the development and implementation of the firm’s strategic plan; and communicating vision. He is a professional engineer in five states, including Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. Mr. Fulmer is active in the industry as a member of the American Public Transit Association, the Construction Management Association of America, American Council of Engineering Companies, and Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS). In addition, Mr. Fulmer serves on several additional boards, including the Central Philadelphia Development Corporation, Greater Valley Forge Transportation Management Association (GVF) and the Perkiomen Valley School District Foundation.
