Urban is pleased to announce that Jason Cardinal, PE, has earned the Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential from the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA). Mr. Cardinal serves as a vice president and office manager of the firm’s Hartford office.

“It is important to us at Urban to support the professional development of our staff through education and training programs,” said Mr. Cardinal. “It is only right of me to continue to develop my qualifications as well, and this new credential from CMAA will enhance the level of service my team and I will be able to deliver to our clients.”

With more than 20 years of industry experience, Mr. Cardinal has expertise in all phases of constructing highways, bridges, and other transportation facilities. Through this experience, he’s been able to strike the cooperative balance between design and construction, having worked for both heavy civil contractors and consultant engineers. This mindset has come in handy during his work for the Federal Transit Administration, Federal Railroad Administration, Amtrak, Metro-North, and the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT), as well as other state, municipal, and private sectors. His skills within the office and in the field serving as resident engineer on some of the largest projects in the region, including the CTDOT CTfastrak contracts, a multi-million dollar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) expansion initiative.

A Professional Engineer registered in three states, Mr. Cardinal earned his master’s in technology management from Central Connecticut State University, and his bachelor’s in civil engineering with a transportation concentration from the University of Connecticut.

According to CMAA, a CCM credential is the “gold standard” in the construction management industry, and recognizes practitioners who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in managing all phases of capital construction. The goal of this certification guides effective professional development and career progress. Recipients of the CCM are said to assure project and program success.
