Urban is pleased to announce that Jennifer Waters, PE, LEED AP, has been named to the board of the Society of Women Environmental Professionals (SWEP). In her role, she will oversee community outreach.

“It is an honor to be named to a board that represents the work of many bright and engaging women in the environmental field,” said Ms. Waters. “It is important to me to encourage women to choose fulfilling careers, and I look forward to doing this in my new role with SWEP.”

At Urban, Ms. Waters serves as a deputy practice leader for environmental services. She is a registered Professional Engineer in six states and has 17 years of diverse environmental and sustainability experience. She has performed Phase I and II environmental site assessments, NEPA assessments, environmental regulatory compliance, environmental oversight, stormwater management, and sustainability studies. Her background includes infrastructure, residential, commercial, industrial, educational, and recreational property development/redevelopment projects. A graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, where she earned a bachelor’s in environmental science, Ms. Waters obtained a master’s in engineering management from Drexel University in 2010.

Ms. Waters previously served as vice president of the Philadelphia section of the Society of Women Engineers for three years. She developed and coordinated programs that encourage students of all ages to explore engineering careers. Ms. Waters is also the co-chair of the Urban Women’s Professional Network, an organization whose mission is “to provide professional guidance to all women within Urban through mentoring and networking.”

SWEP is a national non-profit professional association of women involved or interested in environmental law, science, business, and policy. The Philadelphia Chapter serves as a resource for members in the Philadelphia region, providing opportunities for professional development through educational programming, social events, mentoring, and public service.
