Earlier this year, the Eastern Pennsylvania Affiliate chapter of the national ACE Mentor Program named former ACE student participant and current mentor team leader Kevin Brown, Jr., to its board of directors. Brown is a construction manager with Urban Engineers.
“Kevin embodies the mission of ACE and the power of the program to shape lives and careers,” said ACE Eastern Pennsylvania Affiliate Director Tiffany Millner, AIA, NOMA. “His roles with ACE as a student and a mentor add an exciting and unique perspective to our board.”
Brown represents the full circle of ACE mentoring and career development. He attended George Washington Carver High School for Engineering and Science, where he was a student participant in the ACE Mentor Program. His experience prompted him to become the first in his family to attend college. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from Widener University.
Brown began his career with Urban Engineers, where he has been responsible for significant transportation projects. Most recently, he managed the reconstruction of I-95, Section GR1 in Philadelphia, Pa. His mantra, “Always give back and never forget where you came from,” adorns the entry wall to the 450-person firm.
