Urban Engineers is pleased to announce that the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the PA Society of Professional Engineers has named Nicholas Giglio the 2023 Young Engineer of the Year. Nick is a transportation construction inspector based out of Urban’s Allentown office.

“I am honored to receive this award from the Lehigh Valley PSPE,” Nick said. “Working directly in the engineering and construction field has allowed me to play an important role in projects in our region. Participating in various industry-related events and projects this year has allowed me to learn an extensive amount. This acknowledgment from the local section of PSPE confirms my career is on the right path!”

Nick earned a degree in civil engineering from Penn State Harrisburg. While attending school, he passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and received his Engineer-In-Training (EIT) license immediately after graduation. Nick began work as a transportation construction inspector and was promoted after a year and a half in the field. His current project is the $100 million expansion of Interstate 80 in Stroudsburg, and his experience includes bridge construction/rehabilitation and full-depth highway reconstruction.

Nick is actively involved in several associations, including the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), serving as the President-Elect for the Lehigh Valley Section. He has served on the board of the section for nearly two years and has held a role in various local and national level committees, including as a researcher for Pennsylvania’s 2022 Infrastructure Report Card.

The Lehigh Valley Chapter of the PA Society of Professional Engineers Young Engineer of the Year award is presented to an individual based on their academic achievements, technical and professional society activities, technical papers and patents, engineering experience and accomplishments, and civic/humanitarian activities. It is awarded to a young candidate who is a licensed Professional Engineer or Engineer-In-Training.
