Dianne Semingson, who has served as the Board Chair of Urban Engineers since May 2024 and as a board member since 2014, brings a wealth of experience from both the public and private sectors. During her tenure on the Board, her leadership, communication, and business development expertise have been instrumental in guiding Urban Engineers through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, navigating Federal Infrastructure legislation, and supporting the firm's expansion efforts.
Dianne founded DLS International in 1992. Headquartered in Philadelphia, PA, DLS partners with CEOs and chief marketing officers to provide strategic market planning, marketing communications, and business development services for many of the region's most recognizable corporations, foundations, and community organizations.
From June 2011 to 2013, Dianne was President and CEO at Semingson Enterprises, Inc. Her leadership was instrumental in guiding this natural resources, real estate, and hospitality company through a significant transition period following the departure of its founding father. Dianne's association with the family-owned business Board of Directors dates to 1981.
During her tenure as the regional director for the U.S. Department of Commerce, Dianne oversaw economic development programs in the six-state Mid-Atlantic Region. Over a five-year period, she and her team provided regular briefings to the White House and the U.S. Secretary of Commerce on regional economic and industry affairs. After her government service, she was appointed as the director of government and industry affairs for ARCO Chemical Company. Dianne also held the position of corporate vice president for marketing and communications at the Hill Group, Inc., an international construction consulting and engineering firm.
Before moving to Philadelphia, Dianne was deputy director of commerce for the Midwestern Region, headquartered in Chicago. She also held multiple executive positions with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in Chicago, Columbus, and Detroit.
A graduate of the University of Oregon with a B.A. in urban sociology and public administration, Dianne has completed executive management programs at Duke, Harvard, and Northwestern universities.
